LAN stands for L ocal A rea N etwork and is used to connect your local network device to your home network. The WAN port is connected to your modem, so the ethernet cable between your router and modem and make sure that both ends are connected properly.
If the problem persists then try to restart both the router and modem first. Sometimes the cable or connectors gets damaged which may result in a bad connection between the two devices. Routers also must be connected to the public internet if they're going to help send traffic between your computer and the outside world. They usually use an Ethernet cable to connect to a modem you receive from your internet service provider. In some cases, a router may also be a modem, in which case it may connect to a cable line or phone jack instead.
