How can i embrace change

And in every case, years later they looked back and realized that those seemingly tragic events were turning points in their lives that led them to something far better than what they had before — a better job, a more fulfilling relationship, new friends, deeper wisdom, more freedom, the discovery of their true life purpose, the development of new skills, and spiritual growth.

I can remember in my own life when I was in my mid-twenties, I was working at a government training center in Iowa when the government decided to shut it down. But what ultimately happened was that a month later I was taking a workshop in Chicago run by people who worked for W.

Clement Stone who was a close friend of Napoleon Hill. When they found out I was being laid off, they offered me a job, which is where I began to learn about so many of the things that I teach today. Take a moment later today and think back to some change that you feared or resisted and all the good that eventually came from it. Once you begin to see that, you can begin to anticipate the good that will come from the changes you are facing now. Your mind is a very powerful instrument, and when you learn how to properly use it, you can create anything and everything you want.

And the first step is to choose to believe that what you want is possible. A belief is simply a thought you consciously choose to think over and over until it becomes automatic. So, when you find yourself faced with a big change that feels overwhelming or scares you, stop and take the time to imagine the best possible outcome that could result from that change — and then simply choose to believe that you have the capacity to make that vision a reality. See yourself as already being the kind of person who can successfully adapt to any kind of change — and then start showing up in the world as that person.

How would you walk, how would you talk, how would you dress, what thoughts would you think, how would you interact with people? I observed a good example of the power of acting as if a number of years ago when I was living in Pacific Palisades, California.

There was a young teller at the bank who started to catch my attention each time I went to the bank. Sleep on it and wake up with a new point of view or even an action plan. Look at the pros and cons of the change and evaluate what you really want and if the change really matters in the long run. Take care of yourself. Sometimes change can come as a shock or something that just disturbs our routine. That could mean taking a day off and doing little things that make you happy.

You own your happiness so take the time to adjust to the change that is happening by taking care of yourself. Ignore your fight or flee instinct. Ignore those feelings and go somewhere where you can calm down. When I had these moments in building our company, I would walk out of our office and go for a walk on the Portland riverfront. Honestly, I always made better decisions after a long walk. Again, when confronted with change, we seem to think we need to have all the answers to any situation.

This is where good friends and mentors come in. Especially mentors. Mentors seem to have this ability to be neutral and to make you think as they probably like you but they might not be a close friend.

This impartiality provides a real balance to the situation and often gives you several points of view that you can consider before you respond to the change. Constantly gather new perspectives. Change is not so dramatic if you have been constantly gathering new knowledge and perspectives as part of your commitment to be a more well rounded person. Change only shocks those people who are stuck in a narrow point of view or routine. By always embracing new information or changing up your routine, you are actually better adjusting yourself to the roller coaster of life.

Evolve and embrace change. What were you born to do? My personal belief is that no one was born to do anything so you can actually do whatever you want. Life is too short to just be a lawyer, accountant and marketer. Change never seems natural or that easy. Think about the New Years resolutions that we rarely keep.

We naturally repel it and often want to retreat back into our comfort zone. Normalcy is safe, as it doesn't provoke fear and it allows us to live our lives without facing things that could potential hurt us or build us up.

Because we repel change, we sometimes go through life without ever living up to our full potential our allowing ourselves to express who we really are. Change is an inevitable part of life and no matter how happy we are with how things are currently, life will always change. All around us, there is change happening on a daily basis. We are forever growing, expanding, aging and changing. So what is it about the world that can seem so overbearing and scary when change happens?

Why is it that many of us are instantly repelled by the thought of change? If we could only learn to let change work for us and benefit us, we could be happier with our lives and the process of growth.

Embracing change is key to your success and happiness. Sometimes we change because we are attempting to rid negative habits or people from our lives. The sooner you become aware that change is going to happen and become open to accepting it in your life sooner, the better off you will be.

Be diligent in the way you analyze your life. What are the positives and more importantly, what are the negatives?
